Nova 8 Night Mode

Nova 8 Night Mode

Nova 8 Night mode is one of the things that Huawei should improve on middle -class devices. If other devices can do it, what is Huawei’s reason? Although the noise effect is not very visible, but the post-process softens the picture result and makes the result not very good with a slight orange or sometimes too bluish color. What’s great is, the night mode of this device doesn’t just increase the brightness level.

The video recording of the Nova 8 device is still the same as it used to be. Any Huawei device in the same category will have not-so-good quality. The color profile is interesting, but if you look closely it has a slight snagging effect. Most interesting is, the video recording of this device’s selfie camera and its microphone are of high quality. So for use when working from home and teleconferencing sessions, this device is able to handle smoothly and great.

A middle class gadget like this should already have a magnifier and stereo sound. Unfortunately, it only offers mono speakers. Yes, the quality is good – but if not balanced it’s a bit weird. Throughout my use, I used TWS alone a lot. One good thing about using a device without GMS is, a music streaming app that doesn’t require a license like DRM. Tidal, Apple Music, etc. can be used on the device very well.

One drawback that this device lacks other than stereo audio is the latest Hi Histen system from Huawei available on the MatePad 11. Harmony OS 2.0 on their tablet has support for spatial or surround audio mimicry no matter what audio accessory is used. If that feature is available on this device, it will definitely hook you all.

Huawei Nova 8 Change

Huawei Nova 8 Change

Existing Huawei users will be happy with this Huawei Nova 8 change, as it is very comfortable to use as well as convenient. The settings are not so confusing and more organized as well as with the icon design and good use of colors – it gives a soothing feeling.

Although the initial performance is not very smooth, the overall performance of this device is very good. Time lag problems only happen occasionally and it is standard for such a device. While there is no GMS, the device can be used as usual without any problems – if you can trust the favorite Petal Search app that sometimes displays results from suspicious sources.

Best Thing

There are two things I love most about this device. First the use of Petal Maps is getting better; and there is little experience as if using a map from Apple. Although the name of the location is sometimes not very accurate; and some are misspelled, the intricate instructions in a voice; as if this robot is still able to show the right path.

The second is Celia which mean still with the Malay language. It can listen to my instructions well and quickly and do those instructions very accurately. With the Celia progressing, it’s no surprise that Huawei is ready to bring in more devices. Celia’s voice still needs to be fixed; as it reminds me of Siri’s voice of a bygone era – that of a robot trying to mimic humans.

Since this is a Huawei gadget, functions such as Smart Collaboration are also supported for fast connection and tethering between all their products. I’m currently using the Huawei FreeBuds 4i and MatePad 11 and believe it or not, I’m pretty excited about the way it tracks all the devices and accessories as well as how fast it connects. Oh yes, this article is also written on Huawei laptops; and the file drag and drop function is also very well supported.

Using Mate 30 Pro

Using Mate 30 Pro

If we feel it’s harassing, regular users when using Mate 30 Pro who don’t have the technical ability will definitely have trouble doing so. Huawei says consumers in Malaysia need to migrate to HMS. The application is downloaded through AppGallery. However, applications such as Waze, Google Maps or Facebook are still not offered on this Huawei application store and local banking applications are also limited. Without the app, the Huawei gadget will die. This has been the reality for over seven years now.

What happened to this Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G is sad. Its camera capabilities are better than the Mate 20 Pro and only slightly behind the P30 Pro. In some respects, the camera is better than the iPhone 11 Pro Max and Note 10+.

At a selling price of RM4199 each, it is difficult to recommend the purchase of a device that is like a beautiful race car but not only equipped with two tires. There are many other devices on the market that have comparable specifications but do not require users to do sideloading to enjoy daily necessities applications.

Don’t buy Mate 30 Pro 5G because of its 5G, but if you want to buy – buy because of the performance and capabilities of the camera.

Attractive device design with premium finish.
The on -screen voice control buttons are attractive because they can be used by left -handed or right -handed people without any problems.
Excellent camera capabilities. Video is now much better when compared to previous Huawei devices.
Extremely satisfactory battery life with fast charging system.
Fast 3D face recognition system. Can work in the dark.

GMS needs to be installed manually if you want to enjoy popular applications that AppGallery does not offer.
Audio quality is unsatisfactory due to imbalance.
Fingerprint scanners are still of the optical type.
The Horizon Display screen is not suitable for use in most applications.

Mate 30 Pro Sensor

Mate 30 Pro Sensor

The 40+40+8+3D TOF Megapixel Mate 30 Pro sensor combination is larger than the 40+20+8+3D TOF Megapixel on the P30 Pro. The downside to Huawei gadget cameras over the years is the poor video capture ability. Problems such as poor video and only 4K 30FPS are solved on the Mate 30 Pro. So because the same camera is used – the Mate 30 Pro 5G also has the same camera capabilities. It’s no problem to record at 4K 60FPS through the new Cine Camera RGGB sensor used,

Wide -angle, ultra -wide -angle, telephoto and 3D TOF lenses allow the device to be used as a flexible mobile device camera. Pictures in a variety of situations can be taken without problems. The only downside is that optical zoom systems are now only up to 3X, hybrid up to 5X and digital up to 30X only. The P30 Pro periscope mechanism is not reused. This is most likely because even though it provides a high zoom level, it cannot go through a smooth zoom when video recording is done.

The camera app has an easy -to -use interface. All basic functions are neatly displayed on the screen. The manual mode provided is also powerful enough for users to change the settings as needed. True to the use of the Pro name, the Mate 30 Pro 5G camera app gives you the freedom to work without the software constraints we found on the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Additional functions included are slow motion video up to thousands of FPS, Monochrome, Dual View, Document, Portrait, Aperture, and Pro. All of them can be activated by the user himself. Praise we give to Huawei because the included camera app is quite complete. The best example is Air Gesture which allows the device to be controlled without any touch. Like the Pixel 4, these gesture controls are also annoying that only occasionally work.

Port in Mate 30 Pro

Port in Mate 30 Pro

The USB-C charging port in Mate 30 Pro located on the bottom is squeezed by the SIM tray on the left and the speaker lattice on the right. The SIM tray used is of the hybrid type supporting dual nano -sized SIM or one NM card. An infrared transmitter is place at the top. Huawei still includes it even while at the same time marketing the device technology in relation to them. Praise should be given because other manufacturers have long discarded this functionality on the grounds that it is not used by most users.

Due to the back panel being protect by a faux leather finish, the back panel no longer traps fingerprint dirt like a pitcher that traps insects. The bulge of the camera gadget use is also quite large making the device cannot be place flat on the table surface. A round glass protects the four camera lenses. Without a framework we are very sure this glass is scratch after use after a while.

We would like to commend the design of the Mate 30 Pro 5G; as it not only looks futuristic but doesn’t just recycle last year’s device design. After embarking on the square -shaped camera bulge trend that is now being imitate by Apple and Google; they immediately changed to a round bulge design like a real digital camera lens. This is in line with their goal of selling the Mate 30 Pro 5G as a powerful photography; as well as videography device in the market.

Huawei already has their own design identity rather than just taking inspiration from the best -selling competitor devices in the market.

Interface And Software

Powerful hardware will only work well if matched with software of comparable quality. The Mate 30 Pro series is Huawei’s first smartphone launch without official Google Mobile Services (GMS) support. Instead it was replace by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) with apps download from the Huawei AppGallery.

Huawei Nova 7 5G Camera Quality

Huawei Nova 7 5G Camera Quality

Huawei Nova 7 5G Camera Quality – 64MP (f/1.8) + 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto + 8MP (f/2.4) ultra wide angle + 2MP (f/2.4) macro and 32MP (f/2.2) selfie lens are the camera settings used on this device. It supports HDR picture recording, optical and even electrical stabilization and 30FPS 4K video recording. A quad-lens setting like this is in line with other competitor devices, only is the quality great enough to make this device the device of choice for many?

Turning to the main camera, there are four lenses to look at. Let me review one by one the quality of each lens. The main lens is 64MP and this mode is a separate mode and the automatic mode will process the image to 16MP size only. The tests I did showed good image results. Precise details, sharp and beautiful colors. Below is a 16MP sample that is processed automatically. To me it is a good result, you value yourself by looking at the sample below.

Wide Angle

The next sample is the ultra wide angle, optical zoom and digital zoom capabilities. Also gives surprising results, because the post-process power on the Huawei gadget is quite terrible. Digital zoom, obviously the system tries to remove noise making the picture stay soft. Even so, the result is still satisfying because the zoom distance it is capable of is quite far. The color is also wonderfully preserved.

The macro camera capabilities of this Huawei device also dare I say is incredible. The colors and details are beautiful, precise and well preserved. What is disappointing with this device is the very poor night mode capability. I was a bit disappointed because, others were already great but the night mode it was too soft, a lot of noise and the details were missing.

Lastly is the video test. It seems up to this model, although it is capable of recording at high resolution. The background of the video still can’t provide good detail and continues to be exposed to light terribly. But in terms of stabilization and color it is actually satisfying. Successfully recorded audio is also excellent regardless of the selfie camera or the main camera.

Huawei Nova 7 5G Usage Experience

Huawei Nova 7 5G Usage Experience

Huawei Nova 7 5G Usage Experience – Believe it or not, I am the one who frequently switches these devices-there is no direct problem in the user experience no matter 120Hz or 60Hz. Daily use is enough 60Hz. Only if there is a high choice, I will appreciate the functionality provided. The color quality of this screen is also quite bright, details are preserved and has excellent brightness. However, the panels used dare I say they are inexpensive panels – this is because there is color bending on the video background for some scenes or scenes. Don’t worry, it doesn’t even affect how the device is used – only if the problem is sought will it be a problem to arrive.

Nova 7 uses the Android 10 operating system with an EMUI 10.1 interface. It’s a new device, so it doesn’t have any GMS and rely on HMS completely. This does not mean that it cannot be used at all, there are advantages and many disadvantages. EMUI 10.1 is still counted as a good operating system and this device is a good gadget. Let’s take a look at what’s in EMUI 10.1 on this device.

EMUI 10.1 is packed with features and functions, such as dark mode applied to the entire system, Digital Balance as a replacement to Digital Wellbeing and more. Interestingly as an alternative to Spotify and Netflix, their video and music system apps we serve as a streaming service with limited content from some studios. On EMUI 10.1 Nova 7, Celia is still not present – but the Petal search app is already built -in. Petal is a search app that can find apps that are not in the AppGallery. It will use a variety of resources and users will need to choose it carefully.

The Huawei Nova 7 screen uses an almost frameless design with a bezel around it that looks even. Not to forget too, it’s a kind of perforated screen to hold a selfie camera. Just two days of use alone I have forgotten the existence of the hole.

Huawei Matepad (WiFi) Review Conclusion

Huawei Matepad (WiFi) Review Conclusion

Huawei Matepad (WiFi) Review Conclusion – What the author can conclude here, this device comes with an ample specs offering. Spacious display, large battery and a chip that is adequate for its functions. But alas, there is still one important thing missing from it which is no GMS. But, you said that is not a problem for you, maybe you can consider buying this Huawei MatePad at a price of RM1,399 per unit. Each purchase will come with additional keyboard accessories for free.

Comfortable for all day use, non -slip finish
Good processor in its class
Very satisfactory audio quality
Satisfactory battery life

No GMS support
10W charger is not included
Additional accessories – the keyboard is less comfortable to use in the long run

Typically, tablets do not focus on camera capabilities. However, Huawei gadget does not seem to ignore this part when it also loads the camera with its satisfactory capabilities for daily shooting. The camera configuration here is a combination of 8-Megapixel for the main lens and 8-Megapixel for the selfie camera. For function options, it comes with a number of interesting built -in modes including HDR, panorama, beauty function and so on. The video setting supports the highest 1080p@30fps recording on the rear and front cameras.

The author argues that the camera’s ability is seen to be able to provide interesting shooting performance, especially in situations with adequate lighting. The resulting image looks bright and sharp, with satisfactory color reflection. But unfortunately, the use at low lighting also produces a less satisfactory picture with the effect of noise perception is quite clear.

As promised, the author will touch a little on the quality of his audio. The tablet comes with four speakers placed on each corner of the device. These speakers are powered by the Harmon Kardon sound system – while providing good audio performance. The author had time to test it and found that the quality felt good. The sound that comes out is also satisfying with a fairly loud and loud voice level – seen as adequate enough for good hearing.

The Huawei Matepad uses a 7,250mAh battery – the same capacity found on the previous Huawei MatePad Pro. According to the author, this battery is big enough for a tablet. Through it, it is able to provide a long time of use. Where, the authors found it was able to last around 2 days for moderate use. In contrast to all-day use, it is seen to be able to record a satisfactory Screen-on-Time (SoT) time-which is around 9 hours with full use. But unfortunately, this device only supports 10W charging, so the full charging process takes around 3 hours.

Huawei Matepad (WiFi) Design Quality

Huawei Matepad (WiFi) Design Quality

Huawei Matepad (WiFi) Design Quality – Next, the design. After researching, the authors found that Huawei uses a metal frame and back panel made of polycarbonate -based material. However, it did not feel cheap at all. The matte finish used also gives an attractive appearance. It’s just a pity, it’s seen so easily trapping fingerprint dirt.

To the naked eye, the size here is indeed large. However, this tablet gadget is still comfortable to hold. Coupled with the tablet’s pretty neat build structure makes it look really premium. Admittedly, the writer loves his design – it’s not too heavy, making it easier for the writer to hold on to for a long time.

Speaking of standard button layouts, they are all housed in areas that are easy to reach. On the right side, you will find voice -adjustable buttons and four high -quality microphone holes. You will find the power button on the top side of the device along with two speakers. Meanwhile, on the left side there is a slot for a microSD card tray – kindly remember, this tested model is a wifi -only version.

Also visible, the two speakers on the bottom and the connection use here are USB-C-based ports. All four of these speakers are tune by Harman Kardon support-their performance is to be satisfactory with a loud sound. The author will comment further on it in the audio section. In Malaysia, Huawei Matepad is only offered in one color option, which is Midnight Gray.

For information, this tablet also supports various additional accessories such as a keyboard that can also serve as a protective frame and also support M-Pencil. Admittedly not responding to his keyboard satisfactorily. Nevertheless, the author faced a bit of trouble getting use to this keyboard at first. Don’t know why, the author is less comfortable with this keyboard.

Huawei nova 8i Performance

Huawei nova 8i Performance

Huawei nova 8i Performance – The Huawei nova 8i uses a Snapdragon 662 chip – an eight -core chipset built on 11nm technology. It is further matched with an Adreno 610 GPU. Memory support is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The use of the chip is a major topic of debate, especially since it is sold with a price tag of more than RM1000. Many also think that it is quite expensive and not worth it for them. Whereas, most other competitors are able to sell at more pocket -friendly prices. However, if viewed from a positive angle. It offers adequate memory and storage support to accommodate the various needs of most users.

Overall, the user experience is at an average level only. In short, you can’t expect a smooth usage experience on this smart gadget. The reason is, it has a significant time lag problem – both when used to launch or switch apps. Clearly indicates it takes time to open the application. At the same time, the same problem can also be felt when the camera app is accessed. Where, the transition from one mode to another is also quite time consuming. Even so, it is only suitable to be used for daily social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp and others like it.

As I said in the paragraph above, one of the focuses on the Huawei nova 8i is its camera capabilities. Where, the quad-camera system used is equipped with a 64-Megapixel (f/1.9) (main) + 8-Megapixel (f/2.4) (ultra-wide angle) sensor setting with a 120-degree + 2-Megapixel (f/ 2.4) (depth) + 2-Megapixel (f/2.4) (macro). Then, the front camera is 16-Megapixel (f/2.0).

These cameras are all equipped with AI technology. Among the camera modes that are included are various. For example you can find options for aperture mode, night mode, portrait mode, video, Panorama mode, HDR, High-res, Super Macro, stickers and time-lapse. For video, there is the ability to record video at a maximum setting of 1080/30fps using both sides of the camera. No support for stabilization on video.

Huawei nova 8i Placements

Huawei nova 8i Placements

Huawei nova 8i Placements – In the top of the device this device have a support for a face scanning system is also included. It is also capable of unlocking the device quickly. In fact, it can also be used in dark environments and various device positions – including landscapes. Even so, the process of unlocking in a dark environment actually made me feel uncomfortable. The reason is, the screen will be illuminated so as to cause the eyes to feel less comfortable to look at it.

There are no buttons, connection ports or holes available on the left side. Next, a 3.5mm audio jack is also included and it is placed on the top of the smart gadget. This is definitely good news for those who are still comfortable with the use of wired type earphones – just like myself. Finally the SIM tray is located at the top. It supports SIM card slot with support for Huawei NM card.

Bottom of the Device

Not only that, a speaker and a USB-C connection port are also placed on the same part. The Huawei nova 8i only supports mono -based speakers. Its capabilities are seen as still enough to provide loud audio quality for the daily use of most users. Still, a few comments should I give about its position which results in it sometimes being accidentally closed; especially when held in landscape while watching videos or playing games. Also included is Bluetooth 5.0 support for easy connection to several other devices – such as the Huawei FreeBuds 4 which just launched a period of days.

Right Side of the Device

Next, there is a fingerprint scanner that also serves as a power button on the right side. Then, you can also find audio adjustable buttons on the same side. This position can be consider common for most smart devices in the market. This is why, I admit it’s not clumsy to use it even though I’m basically a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ user; where the power button and audio adjustment are on the left side.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Camera Quality

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Camera Quality

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Camera Quality – Only tri-camera systems are use with laser focusing. No additional 3D ToF sensor has so far been use for focusing as well as producing bokeh special effects. The interface of the camera app is very easy to understand with clear options on the right side for various modes and on the right side there are flash settings, artificial intelligence and links to settings.

With this camera configuration, the Huawei gadget supports optical zoom up to 5X, disappearance up to 10X, and digital up to 50X with OIS support. There is a Master AI artificial intelligence system that optimizes most camera settings according to the situation. Leica lenses are still used to continue collaboration between companies since the Huawei P9.

Among the interesting features included are monochrome, portrait, macro, Dual View, ultra-high resolution photos, night mode and Light Painting. For those who are proficient in using the camera, the Pro mode is accessible with various parameters that can be change at will.

Picture Quality

The picture quality is good with the production of vivid colors although not as accurate as the real situation. The resulting image is sharp with a fast focusing system without any problems. Heating problems were not experience even after taking many pictures in a row. The night mode is also as expected to be good with low noise and the resulting image looks bright. Overall the Mate 40 Pro continues Huawei’s tradition in highly satisfying photographic capabilities.

Video recording is also good with a stabilization system that is able to reduce vibration when walking for example. But it’s not as good as video recording of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G. When the video stabilization system is activate, its movements appear too mechanical to look natural. Even so it is still good when compared to the majority of other devices on the market just not the best in its class.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Processing Power

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Processing Power

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Processing Power – Sorry about the emptiness of this section because no benchmarking applications can be installed on devices that are accepted for review. I tried installing Geekbench 5 and Antutu 3D but all attempts were blocked by the software.

All I can say is that the experience of using the app, first and scrolling the device is just as smooth as on other flagship devices. No speed difference can be felt when compared to devices with Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 865+, Exynos 990 and Apple A13. Just as smooth as fun.

Running the first one is also no problem as long as it doesn’t require a login to Google Play Games. I can’t play Temple Run 2 due to the need to login to Play Games. On other startups like COD Mobile, Asphalt 9 and Free Fire, no issues occurred.

Also Read: Huawei Mate 40 Pro Specifications

The Huawei gadget can run various startups without any time -lapse problems and at high settings. But I have to say not all primers are supported. The best example is Genshin Impact. Direct applications cannot be run possibly; because the developer does not support the Kirin 9000 chip whereas previously they had no problem supporting Honkai Impact 3D on the device

After more than a year of battling U.S. economic sanctions, Huawei’s HMS ecosystem is now getting better. More and more alternatives like YouTube Vanced, Petal Maps and more. The exhaustion of moving to the Huawei ecosystem now makes me able to use Mate 40 Pro as a device for daily use for 14 days during the review period. This I couldn’t do while reviewing the Mate 30 Pro and P40 Pro. Huawei is now getting stronger but some of the issues I explained above need to be resolved immediately to allow users familiar with GMS to migrate to HMS smoothly.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Specifications

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Specifications

Huawei Mate 40 Pro Specifications – Going back to the dual curved screen used, it makes the device look stylish. But in fact function is more important than style. The sides of the device are prone to impact in the event of a fall and at the same time are extremely slippery. The plastic frame provided is still not enough to provide adequate protection as most of the sides are still exposed.

Last year the reason given was to provide a fully adjustable touch audio feature which I would say is not user friendly at all. This year complaints were heard and a physical voice -adjustable button was included on the right side. Physical buttons are much more responsive without having to double-tap first to display them on the screen. For those who prefer a touch adjustable voice system, you don’t have to worry as it is still included especially on those who are left -handed.

One of the earliest comments I saw on Amanz about this device was the use of an oval camera hole that was said to be too large. In fact, the Mate 40 Pro’s camera hole is smaller than the P40 Pro+. At the same time Huawei maintains the 3D face scanning system used since the Mate 20 Pro. Unlocking in the dark can be done without any problems and can also be done when the device is in a horizontal position.

Praise is give to Huawei because this Face ID -like scanning system is support without including a large screen notch. Apple is proud of its smaller iPhone 12 notch this year. Huawei went one step further by not needing a notch without losing the face unlock function.

For the second year I would like to ask Apple; what are their reasons for keeping a big notch on the iPhone? The same question also wants me to ask why Face ID still doesn’t work when the device is horizontal. It can be done on iPad Pro and Huawei devices. No reasonable excuse has give to date.

The big issue last year also lay in the under -screen earbuds of the piezoelectric type that made phone calls sound less clear. This year a physical speaker is place on the top bezel as find on the Note20 Ultra. As a result call quality is ultimately in line with its status as a flagship gadget. VoLTE calls for example are very clear like talking to the person in front of you.
