Honor MagicBook 14 Battery

Honor MagicBook 14 Battery

The 56Wh Honor MagicBook 14 battery size is a pretty good size for a laptop of this category. There is also a 65W fast charging offer that promises 0% -100% in one hour. The power of GaN or PD is very interesting because one charger for all can charge this laptop as well.

The battery is practically inconsistent. Durable eyelashes and eyelashes are not even with the same usage pattern. The use of watching videos, streaming music, reading articles, writing articles and surfing the web can give around 6-7 hours without any problems. But when you start using software like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, the battery will start to go down around the maximum 5 hours of use a day.

Somewhat disappointed it was not able to last long for one working day which is usually 8 hours. This makes the 65W charger should be taken anywhery.

Security and Ecosystems

Honor MagicBook still has a rebranding concept only from Huawei. For their ecosystem called Honor MagicLink which uses Honor PC Manager software similar to Huawei PC Manager. Even their Multi-screen Collaboration concept is the same.

This gives use with any Honor device such as the Honor 50.

Huawei also has this ecosystem, just as smartphones can control their televisions, Huawei FreeBuds supports fast tethering from phone to tablet to laptop and many more. Continuing their Huawei Share by simply tapping the Huawei gadget on the touchpad via NFC, the phone will connect to the laptop. Through it, files are easily transferred, phone applications can be run on laptops, and much more.

The available amplifiers are built from two audio drives. It tries to offer a surround listening experience. It tries to isolate according to its own channel providing better isolation and an extensive audio staging. Too bad it seems tight and weak. Although loud and loud, but it is not tasty gives an unpleasant taste.

Honor MagicBook 14 Touchpad

The Honor MagicBook 14 touchpad is more towards thin than wide. It follows the style of the screen to have more or less the same aesthetic value. In our opinion, this touch pad is quite comfortable and just fine. But if the user has skin on the hands that is easy to sweat, it will easily feel slippery and the gesture control is all inaccurate.

This thin size is also less comfortable with the use of Windows built -in gestures. Another problem with this touchpad is that right -click and left -click are not strong and good. Often wrong clicks and this is a bit annoying. When it does, it does – but when it doesn’t, it hurts.

Performance And Benchmarks

This Honor computer comes with Windows 10 and after two weeks of use I continue to update to Windows 11. So this review will be presented based on user experience to both operating systems.

Two weeks with Windows 10 on this laptop, it provided an unattractive usage experience. Lots of software and system crashes, performance that feels very slow as well as annoying hang issues. Memory usage is seen to reach 90%, as is the CPU.

Doing simple tasks like reading articles, writing, and editing basic photos only in Photoscape X (not Photoshop yet) has become slow and makes me depressed. But when looking at the offerings that Honor does for this product, it’s more or less the MateBook D or MateBook only for which none of these issues I’m facing.

Oddly enough, once Windows 11 is installed – the gadget user experience continues to change and become more satisfying and more fun. Windows 11 is somehow able to run very well on this Ryzen 5 laptop very well.

Daily tasks like watching videos, writing articles, editing work are all no problem either on Windows 10 before. In my own estimation, this performance improvement is over 60-70% different than Windows 10.

Speaking again about Windows 11, using it on the MagicBook 14 is really quiet. Even a pampered time lag can still be felt. But I am no longer stressed or feel this laptop is annoying throughout use with newer platforms.

Honor MagicBook 14

After testing the RealmeBook, the Huawei MateBook D series and now the Honor MagicBook 14 – all we can say is that this MagicBook is trying its best to maintain its magic to become an affordable premium laptop. The aluminum construction is arguably compact enough to give a good load or simply solid language.

Honor has started to be active again in the Malaysian market. They are slowly launching one product after another, from wearable gadget, audio products, smartphones or even laptops. The MagicBook series has started to be sold in Malaysia with one of the earliest models offered being the MagicBook 15 which we have reviewed before.

Honor Malaysia this time has sent the MagicBook 14 model to Amanz laboratory for testing. After using it for a few weeks, we found that this MagicBook is like a RealmeBook or Infinix INBook X1 Pro only. That is a middle -class budget laptop that tries to offer capabilities like a top -class laptop. Is it just as magical without being tragic as the larger model? Or this time it’s just poisonous acah-acah because there is no extraordinary ability? This is a review article.

Even so, this laptop is still not great enough to open the screen with one hand; without the keyboard part raised. Switch to the screen section with three sides of a thin bezel along; with a thick chin with the Honor logo. This thick chin gives this MagicBook 14 a resolution and screen ratio of 1920 x 1080 16: 9.

The Space Gray and Mystic Silver colors on offer also give a perception that this affordable laptop is capable of looking professional and stylish. The only connection ports available are 1x USB-C, 2x USB-A, 1x 3.5mm audio jack and 1x HDMI. This USB-C one is limited to fast charging and data transfer only and has no Thunderbolt support.

The keyboard is also well -arranged, giving it a MacBook -like style but we know that laptops are just a try hard for the usual venomous design. But for offers below RM3000, Honor is seen to still be able to maintain its magic to always captivate the hearts of the people.

Huawei MateBook 14s Sound

Huawei MateBook 14s Sound

Another part of the Huawei MateBook 14s Sound audio system is the use of a built -in four -microphone system that promises a seamless digital conversation experience. Unlike the built -in 720p webcam, this MateBook 14s microphone system is pretty good.

In fact, Huawei says that one of the advantages of this microphone gadget system is that it can capture sound from a distance of 5 meters, and this gives the user space to move around when in a meeting. You might ask if this will cause this microphone to capture unwanted background noise; and true, when used alone, this microphone system will do just that.

To overcome this problem, Huawei also introduced the Personal Voice Enhancement feature; which uses an artificial intelligence system to ensure that this microphone system only captures your voice; and not the background noise. In our experiments, this artificial intelligence system was 50-50 in its functionality, and this is probably because this PVE feature would still take in conversations in the background; because it thought it was the voice of the user.

Our recommendation is that you only use earphones with a built-in microphone to ensure; that your conversations in your online meetings are not interrupted by external noises.

Benchmark Score

The following are the benchmark scores using PCMark 10 for the overall performance of the computer; as well as CrystalDiskMark for the built-in SSD storage speed of this laptop:

It can be seen that the Intel Core i7-11370H CPU score is quite high especially; as the processing chip comes with better performance capabilities as compared to U series processing chips. The built-in SSD storage speed also shows this laptop comes with PCIe 3.0 SSD speed; as fast as that may use such data transmission technology.

One strange thing is that the SSD used in this Huawei MateBook 14s is separated into two parts, one specifically for the operating system portion of 120GB, while the rest is used for other data storage.

Huawei MateBook 14s Performance

Huawei MateBook 14s Performance

A few weeks into my use of this laptop, I can say that in terms of Huawei MateBook 14s performance, it was a bit surprising how Huawei managed to fit an Intel H-series processing chip into the frame of this thin and lightweight laptop, which would normally be loaded with a U-series processing chip , for Ultrabook class laptops.

For example, I have a bad habit of opening a lot of tabs on my web browser (20-30 typically) and with a combination of 16GB of memory and even sleeping tabs on the Microsoft Edge web browser, I can browse all of these websites without time lag issues.

In the meantime, the FullView display of this laptop also I dare say is among; the most beautiful screen displays on a laptop in this class I have ever used. The combination of LTPS-LCD display; and 400 nit brightness value; in addition to 178 degree viewing angle allows users to not only utilize this display for various work purposes; but also enjoy various video entertainment content, whether on YouTube, Netflix and so on.

If you have a Huawei tablet such as the latest Huawei MatePad, you can also take advantage of File Sharing and Screen Sharing functions and connect the tablet via Bluetooth or cable to send files from one device to another, or use the tablet as a way to add displays. laptops quickly and easily.

Personally, I use the screen -sharing function every day with the MatePad tablet in the office; to make it easier for me to read and write daily news without having to switch tabs. In terms of productivity, it has to some extent increased my work productivity; and I will definitely feel a bit sad; when these two products have to be returned later.

In terms of battery life, based on my gadget usage, (screen brightness 50 percent, WiFi installed), I can use this laptop for around 5-6 hours, depending on usage patterns which include updating the Amanz website with news, listening to songs via Spotify and limited YouTube and Netflix views.

The Huawei MateBook

The Huawei MateBook

Thes series of laptops, dubbed the Huawei MateBook now comes with a more premium offering called the Huawei MateBook 14S which is not only powered by Intel’s 11th generation Tiger Lake CPU series and a number of exciting functions that also take advantage of Huawei’s ecosystem presence if you use the device -their other devices.

Huawei may be know as a technology company and maker of smart devices that had to develop their processing chips and operating systems after strict restrictions impose by the U.S. government to date. Harmony OS can now be seen through their various devices, such as smart gadget, smart televisions, smart watches and even their smart home systems.

However, in the laptop sector, they are still actively working with companies such as Intel and Microsoft in developing laptop offerings that were previously seen to come at affordable prices, even though they come with specifications that are arguably great enough for productivity use. daily.

Specifications And Designs

Starting with the specifications of this laptop, users have two model options based on CPU and memory offerings. The first model, sent to us for this review is power by an Intel Core i7-113700H CPU; with a 16GB memory offering. The second model is power by an Intel Core i5-11300H CPU with 8GB of memory.

In terms of storage offerings, the Intel Core i7 model comes with 1TB of NVMe SSD storage; while the Intel Core i5 model comes with 512GB of storage. Both models come with the latest Intel Iris Xe graphics processing chip offering built-in; allowing it to also run a number of computer games at medium resolutions and settings.

One of the aspects that makes this laptop a premium productivity laptop; is the 14.2 -inch screen display offering of this laptop. Named FullView Display, it combines the use of LTPS-LCD panel; high resolution (2520 x 1680), high display aspect ratio (3: 2) and almost frameless design from four directions; where 90 percent of the screen surface is active display.

Beam Gen 2 Audio

Beam Gen 2 Audio

It’s a little hard to write an Beam Gen 2 audio listening experience in words. But if you’ve ever watched a movie in a Dolby Atmos stage, the audio experience on the Beam Gen 2 is similar but on a smaller scale.

Throwing audio from above may not be so because of using software. But this is a small disadvantage when compared to the advantages that can be enjoyed. The explosions and gunshots felt like punching the chest even though the Beam Gen 2 didn’t have a large wooden subwoofer. The treble also squeaked with the sound of shattering glass moving in front of his head.

For those who have never used a 5.1 or Atmos audio system; I recommend you don’t try it if you don’t have a dream of buying; as it will make you never go back to a regular 2.1 audio system again.

I said in the Amanz lab a 65 ″ Samsung QN900A Neo QLED 8K was used to test the Sonos Beam Gen 2. The speaker quality of the Beam Gen 2 is much better; when compared to the built -in audio system of a smart television that does not directly support this Atmos. Finally robust visuals can be viewed on a premium 8K QLED screen with real Atmos audio. Like changing from a TWS to a phone to a Sony with LDAC. That’s the difference in my ears because it introduces a new dimension to the ear.

If you are an Apple Music customer, Beam Gen 2 we recommend listening to Atmos and Apple Lossless music. The ears feel like they are being washed clean from the sins of listening; to music using only cheap earphones all this time. Frequencies and musical instruments that have been magically submerged appear when heard through Beam Gen 2.

If you already have other Sonos smart gadget speakers at home, the Beam Gen 2 can be combined with the Sonos One and Sonos Sub for a better audio experience.

Sonos Beam Gen 2 Height

Sonos Beam Gen 2 Height

With a Sonos Beam Gen 2 height of 69mm, it can also be placed under some smart televisions quite comfortably. From my observation it is no problem to be include under the Sony, Samsung, Prism+ and Huawei televisions that are in the Amanz AV studio now. With space usage being important, the Beam Gen 2 is among the easiest to use in the living room due to its fairly compact size.

One thing that those interested in buying the Sonos Beam Gen 2 should know is that it only supports audio tethering using WiFI and HMDI eARC connectivity. No direct tethering using bluetooth or regular audio cables. The reason may be because Sonos is a soundbar for listening to premium level audio and bluetooth as well as regular cables cannot provide the emperor audio experience. To enjoy Dolby Atmos audio you also need to make sure your television supports HMDI eARC connection. Without eARC support, support audio formats are limit to Dolby Digital 5.1 only.

The process of activating the Beam Gen 2 for the first time I found was much easier on Apple devices. It’s faster and easier to add services like Apple Music into an app. Overall the process of activating the soundbar for the first time takes about 5 minutes. This is my issue with all “smart devices” right now. Everything has to go through the Sonos account registration process and requires the Internet. Without the Internet you can’t use the Beam Gen 2; because like I said earlier there is no regular bluetooth and wired support.

This is the sacrifice that needs to be made when entering a smart ecosystem. After everything is done Beam Gen 2 no longer comes any problems. In the Amanz lab, a 65 ″ Samsung QN900A Neo QLED 8K television; and a 32 ″ Smart Monitor M7 monitor I used to test the Beam Gen 2. This was to see if the process of connecting a soundbar gadget was consistent on a RM20,000 television and a RM2000 smart monitor.

Audio in Sonos Beam

Audio in Sonos Beam

Audio in Sonos Beam is among the aspects that are always ignored by the users because beautiful screens, large screens and powerful processors are the three more preferred categories. Many don’t actually realize that the television speakers they use now are less than satisfactory because they shoot down and in 90% of cases are just stereo as well as small in size.

I am one of the people who used to be satisfied only with TV speakers at home. But since working at Amanz, I’ve commented a lot on high -performance audio equipment. After the “hijab” that covers the ears is opened, it is impossible to close it all and go back to the regular stereo 2.0 speakers. The analogy is like the first time you watch 1080P content on a TV. I and many of you can no longer accept lower resolutions.

Sonos Beam (Gen 2) is a speaker that can be categorized as an aristocratic class in Malaysia. It has been on the market for the past few weeks so is this compact soundbar gadget able to offer the best audio experience making the RM2699 price to buy it worth it?

The Sonos Beam Gen 2 is an update model to the original Sonos Beam launched in 2018. So when viewed on the exterior design, no significant differences can be seen. The entire body of the soundbar is made of plastic material including the speaker lattice on the front and sides. Some dislike the use of plastic material on the soundbar; but I personally feel it is a more practical design when compared to the fabric finish on the Sonos Playbar.

The Sonos Playbar that I have been using in the office for the past six years is now dusty with a canvas cover that likes to be cleaned and has started to tear. Plastic lattice is much easier to clean without the risk of being torn in the future. In this case Sonos is taking a long -term practical step over a finish; that will make the Beam look more premium.

Black Shark Lucifer T1

Black Shark Lucifer T1

The bass on this Black Shark Lucifer T1 is a bit loud and excessive, making the listening experience a little less pleasant as you can’t hear other details very well. It then doesn’t have a good definition of bass and sounds as if it’s empty and widely spread or it’s easy to say it has a hollow bass.

As for the vocals, it is not very tasty and seems to be far away from the user’s ears. Due to the excessive bass earlier, the vocals are also shielded which makes it no interesting impact. No matter the voice of a man or a woman, it will provide an unsatisfactory listening experience.

High Tone/Highs

Again, due to the bass being overly loud and having no separate app to control it – the high pitched sound doesn’t seem to reach. It is already good and tasty. The sound is bright and almost makes an impact, but it’s not very consistent and only some music can capitalize on the capabilities on this TWS.

Audio Staging & Isolation

While users can use an equalizer from a music streaming app or a third -party media app, this set of real wireless earphones gadget lacks great capabilities so that significant changes can be distinguished. Due to that, it does not have good audio staging. Each instrument seems to be in a small and narrow room making the instruments indistinguishable.

Even so, the instrument is still successfully isolated from the vocals giving little positive value to this TWS.

Low Time Interval Mode

Like most sets of real gaming wireless earphones, the first Black Shark mode will activate the low interval feature. Gives users an engaging user experience when playing action premiere or fast -paced. With the excessive bass just now, it makes the sound of a shot or an explosion more delicious and thrilling.

Unfortunately, this mode when used will sacrifice the quality of the sound played from the music streaming platform. Using this mode also needs to be activated with a few touches on the earphone handle. But when playing the first, this low 55ms time lapse mode helps a little to give a more immersive first play experience.

The sound of a shot is a little more efficient to detect by the ear, compared to not using it. It’s just that it’s not as great and in line with the selling price.

EZVIZ C3W Pro Codec

EZVIZ C3W Pro Codec

Apart from that, the EZVIZ C3W Pro codec uses the H.265 video recording codec which is simply a video codec capable of recording video that has high detail but at a more compact file size. Basically, this closed circuit camera will only record video when it detects movement within the recording radius, so if no movement occurs, it will not record unnecessary video.

Lack of

The whole time we used this EZVIZ C3W Pro, I can say in terms of functions and features; this closed circuit camera comes with a very easy-to-understand installation way; and the functions are easy for users to access and use. Aspects like data storage etc. are also taken care of by EZVIZ in the background which the user does not have to worry so much about.

Two notable shortcomings for me about this camera can be said to be a bit trivial; but for me they are still important. The first is that the power plug of this camera comes with a relatively short cable; so the locations where you can install this camera are limited to locations that come with a nearby power plug.

However, EZVIZ seems to be aware of this shortcoming, and is seen offering much longer extension cables to facilitate installation to further power plugs if needed for RM20 on their Shopee and Lazada sites.

The second and third disadvantages are related, which are related to your home or office internet network. If your premise does not have a WiFi router; you can still use a LAN cable to connect this camera to your network; but this may cause your premise area to be cluttered with cables; if you choose to install more than one of these C3W Pro cameras.

The second is that we expect you to want to use an internet plan with speeds around 30-50Mbps and above to ensure a smooth connection between the camera and your device, and we also recommend that you use a router that can accommodate a larger number of internet gadget connections if you want to use more than one of these closed circuit cameras to avoid device time delay problems.

EZVIZ C3W Pro Camera

EZVIZ C3W Pro Camera

To activate this EZVIZ C3W Pro camera, you just need to plug this camera into the power plug, open the EZVIZ app and scan the QR code located on the back of the camera, or on this camera’s manual.

After that, you just have to wait for the camera’s LED light to turn from red to blue and enter your WiFi connection details into this app to allow this camera to be connect to your network. For user guidance, this camera can be connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network only, so we recommend that you connect your security gadget to that network first to enter the WiFi network details into the app where it will then be sent to the camera.

If you ask why this camera does not support 5GHz WIFi network, the network does have a faster data transmission rate, but in terms of network radius, it is much lower compare to 2.4GHz.

More interestingly, EZVIZ says that; there is no limit to how many of these CCTVs can be install in their home or office. You can install closed circuit cameras for as many rooms as you want; and only need to go through the same initial installation process for all of those cameras.

Control Everything Through One Application

The EZVIZ C3W Pro comes with a number of functions that are quite interesting for a closed circuit camera. First, as mentioned earlier, all of these camera functions can be controlled directly from the EZVIZ app.

These include the ability to watch video feeds, control video recording functions; two -way conversation, device addition, alarm installation and cancellation as well as various other camera settings.

The most interesting feature that is present on this camera for me is definitely the color night vision function; which on many other cameras, their night vision function shows recording in black and white only. This makes it difficult for authorities to identify offenders due to insufficient facial details.

Basic Amazfit GTR 3 Pro

Basic Amazfit GTR 3 Pro

It’s still more like a basic Amazfit GTR 3 Pro smartwatch, just a little more advanced. It’s not Pro enough because one can’t download apps from the app store or install apps on their own. The music app is also just a Bluetooth control only no built -in apps like Spotify. The clock face is also limited to what is offered in the Zepp app or its built -in only and cannot use popular third -party clock faces such as from Facer.

Not being able to reply to messages on notifications like email, SMS or WhatsApp is still annoying. But for those who are used to it it will probably feel okay – just for a watch sold at a price close to RM1000 – their operating system should already be at a better level. Amazfit still needs to learn a lot from what competitors have to offer.

Also Read: Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Usage

Became another problem when this watch is frequently disconnected from the iPhone. To use a phone call, though, Bluetooth tethering needs to be done twice. It’s a bit ugly.

The most serious problem is inconsistent data tracking. This watch tries to offer the concept of one -click all -in -one press. But the overly fast process is like a gimmick and the data is also not very accurate. Whereas the actual SpO2 process takes a little longer. Pulse scans are also data read blink too high blink very low. The watch is compared side -by -side with the Apple Watch gadget Series 7 as well as the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS – the TicWatch and Apple’s pulse scan data are more or less the same but Amazfit is vastly different.

Sleep monitoring also even though the battery on the clock there is much more, it blink monitor blink no. Once upon a time, when an app was opened it only displayed data from the past few days and not the most recent. Although the Zepp application already looks user -friendly, it is not friendly in data retrieval as well as management.

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Usage

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Usage

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro usage experience. Overall, the usage of this watch is still a bit more or less the same as using the previous Amazfit GTR 2 watch. But the performance of this watch is much smoother and more fun. It provides a bit of a Wear OS -like user experience on the older model TicWatch.

This clock screen is among the best ever experienced. Beautiful AMOLED, bright colors, clear writing, as well as excellent brightness. Usage whether inside or outside is all satisfactory. True, it’s not fair to compare it to watches like the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, Apple Watch Series 7, or Samsung Galaxy Watch4 because of the different systems as well as the better quality panels – but for the same class category as the Amazfit this is among the ones I don’t regret to use. Scrolling is also smooth and it is very rare for a time delay to occur.

The Always-On Display on this watch gadget is also great. It quickly switches from real clock face and to AOD mode. When in AOD mode, it will make this clock look like a normal clock only.

The next important thing to mention is about Zepp OS. Zepp OS if seen is a bit similar to the system used on the latest Huawei watches. The controls are a bit similar to Wear OS. So for the first hour of using their own operating system completely, they are smart to make users not feel awkward. All important information is easily accessible directly by scrolling on the side to see widgets, Alexa, as well as various cards with user data formulations.

Users can arrange each widget or application according to their tastes.

Realme 3 Pro Achievement

Realme 3 Pro Achievement

Realme 3 Pro achievement brings the same chip as Nokia 8.1 and OPPO Reno, through the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip with 4GB/6GB RAM memory option. The chip brings an eight-core chip design, through 2 x Kryo 360 Gold 2.2 GHz (powerful core) and 6 x Kryo 360 Silver 1.6 GHz (efficient core), in addition to being powered by an Adreno 616 GPU. When tested on benchmark applications such as AnTuTu Benchmark , it managed to clock a time of around 155,050, which it surpassed the Exynos 9610 chip on the Samsung Galaxy A50 (141,646). For comparison with other chips, this Snapdragon 710 chip is almost close to the HiSilicon Kirin 970 chip on the Huawei Nova 4 with 174,109 points.

For use in the real world, this chip is capable of providing fast daily performance; along with a satisfying application exchange experience through a choice of 4GB memory or 6GB RAM. For gaming gadget performance, games like PUBG Mobile can be played at high settings, providing smooth and consistent frame rate readings. Interestingly, it can also play Fornite which is a game that requires selected chips to run. In terms of heat, the heat released is also very minimal; although it is used intensively over a long period of time.

In terms of variation, Realme 3 Pro comes in two variation options namely 4GB RAM + 64GB and 6GB RAM + 128GB. If you want to save money, the initial variation is enough; especially if you take advantage of the backup function on Google Photos. But if this storage is not enough for you, you can still take advantage of microSD cards up to 256GB. In terms of color, the Realme 3 Pro has been offered in three color options; namely Carbon Gray, Nitro Blue, and Lightning Purple.

On the back, it features dual-camera support which it looks a little protruding out of. On the back it also features a fingerprint scanner, which can provide fast response. In addition to the fingerprint scanner, it also still presents a face scan function; as an alternative to this biometric support.

On top of the device there is an infrared sensor in Mi 9 SE for the remote control along with a microphone. At the bottom there are two lattice speakers, of which the speakers are mono. Along with it is a USB-C port. On the left side there is a sim card slot and on the right side are the power button and volume button. Overall, the design of this Mi 9 SE device is quite charming and took my heart.

Lately, Xiaomi has not been selling their devices at expensive prices. The price of most Xiaomi gadget is affordable and to me for a device with a price-to-performance ratio, Xiaomi is the best choice. The Xiaomi Mi 9SE is priced at only RM1299 for the 6/64 GB variant and the 6/128 GB variant is priced at only RM1499. The color of choice that users can choose is Piano Black or Ocean Blue.

With such specifications, the price of the Mi 9 SE can be said to be cheap and its closest competitor is the Samsung Galaxy A70 which is priced close to RM2K. So, for the price score I give it 9/10.

If you want to find a device that is compact, has a beautiful camera and has enough power, this is probably the best device. Where can you find a compact device priced below RM1500 that has a beautiful AMOLED screen, a satisfying camera and a compact and comfortable design to hold? On my Mi 9SE the only small-sized latest device you can get.

If you ignore the time -consuming battery and MIUI launcher, this device is enough to be the best everyday device. I have been using the Mi 9SE for over a month and I am happy with this device. Anyway, you are all smart buyers. Plan in advance, the smartphone you want to buy – what is the main purpose? Surely you will not regret your choice.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Camera

The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE camera makes this small yet cute device, to my surprise. I didn’t think he was able to take amazing pictures. I’ll start with the selfie camera first. It uses a 20MP lens in the small notch part. The result of the selfie is quite beautiful and looks natural. Not too soft or deceitful. Still, all that can change with the built -in artificial intelligence beauty mode. The Mi 9 SE has a virtual plastic surgery artificial intelligence mode and also beautifies the user’s face.

Here is the result, on the left is the original without any edits or beauty modes and on the right is the artificial intelligence beauty mode. I myself was surprised by the results. Most likely, Xiaomi has used technology from Meitu. This is because Meitu now belongs to Xiaomi.

We proceed to the main camera section. Is this camera that combines a 48MP + 8MP telephoto lens + 13MP ultra-wide good? Below are samples of regular mode, ultra-wide mode and also telephoto. To me for a Xiaomi gadget of this class, the camera results are the best. Beautiful details, good colors, attractive dynamic range results. Only if careful, the details on the telephoto picture are a little less. However, the most worrying is the ultra-wide lens. In my test, the results were enough to make my heart happy.

What about a 48MP camera? Is it a mere gimmick or the other way around? The same 48MP sensor is used on the Xiaomi Mi 9 or Redmi Note 7 Pro. The 48MP picture is just a mere size and it can be said that the result of the picture is like taking a picture in RAW format. My 48MP picture size is 13.4MB and the normal mode with active artificial intelligence function is only 4.82MP. So this lens is not a gimmick lens.

Premium Devices Design

Premium Devices Design

Premium devices design definitely come with premium building materials which indirectly provide very premium design results. The Oppo Reno uses a glass panel on the back with a matte finish. This Ocean Green color is unique and different from the others and not the already cliché slope color. In the middle there is the Oppo logo and on it there is a small bead that acts as a protector to the camera lens. The camera is flat at the back and covered by the entire back panel glass made from Gorilla Glass 5.

On the front, the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. The chin and dah are thin and the overall design is sexy. The gadget frame on the sides also looks almost gone because it is so thin. Above there is a shark fin pop-up camera which at the back there is also a hidden LED flash. At the bottom are mono speakers, USB-C and even a 3.5mm audio jack port. Thankfully and thanks to Oppo, the Oppo Reno retains a 3.5mm audio jack port that is sure to make the hearts of many users happy.

On the right side there is a volume button along with the sim card slot and on the left side is a power button with a brighter color. The score for the design is 8/10.

The price of the Oppo Reno is RM1,999. The price is a bit expensive and unreasonable. Honestly I would say there are many more better devices at such a price with greater specs. This expensive price is the same as the Vivo V15 Pro which is sold at RM1,899 for the 8GB RAM variant.

If you are indeed a fan of Oppo and the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is overpriced, the Oppo Reno is the best choice. The price score is 4/10.

Oppo Reno Camera

Oppo Reno Camera

Not the greatest but good enough for me to use it as my first Hari Raya Oppo Reno camera. Good color, beautiful, sharp and enough details. Oppo is trying their best to give the camera as a flagship device on this premium mid -range device.

Check out the camera sample below, isn’t it beautiful? Satisfying enough and good enough to share on social media. For night mode, the result looks good and beautiful. Yes that’s right, it’s beautiful. But if you zoom in on the picture you will see a lot of noise. A little disappointed there. But just for social media and sharing with loved ones it is already ‘ok’.

For the video, I’m sure many people already know if shared on social media, especially Stories-regardless of Facebook/WhatsApp/Instagram, the result will be like 3GP or CCTV footage. For normal recording, the results are mediocre. To this day I have never again found an Oppo gadget that has the best video recording results.

Overall, the camera score I gave was 7/10.

Although the battery of this device is 3675mAh, extreme use can still reach SOT around 5 Hours (manual count). Meanwhile, ordinary consumers like social media and watching videos offline is around 6-7 Hours SOT manual count. The standby time is about 2-3 days if you rarely use it. It’s a bit of a surprise that the battery is durable enough, because I guess when it’s close to the pinnacle device – the battery performance is poor. But it’s the other way around.

Plus with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support, the user experience of this device is only improved and positive. VOOC 3.0 is based on 20W power similar to Dash Charging, so the charging time is around 1 Hour 15 Minutes to 1 Hour 30 Minutes. Slightly disappointing that this device does not support any USB-PD charging and is limited to its own fast charging only.

The battery score for this device is 9/10.

But what makes it even more appealing, it offers Dolby Atmos support for listening through earphones, comes with LTE support, and includes a built-in S-Pen offering.

Just before you buy this Samsung gadget, its screen display looks less than satisfactory, as it presents a slightly limited degree of viewing. It also has a bit of a micro time lag issue when you do a number of things on the Samsung One UI interface. This may be due to the low supply of RAM which is only 3GB of RAM. Aside from performance, it includes a face scan function, however its Samsung performance is seen to be a bit slow when trying to unlock the device.

OnePlus 7 Pro Battery

OnePlus 7 Pro Battery

For the first time OnePlus includes a 4000mAh capacity in OnePlus 7 Pro battery in their device. For years OnePlus only used batteries in the 3000mAh range, finally there was a huge capacity. Most likely it’s because this great OnePlus screen requires a lot of power, so the large battery size is a smart move by OnePlus.

The battery life of this OnePlus 7 Pro is quite amazing. No problem for SOT for over 7 Hours, if the setting is FHD+ with 90Hz screen fresh rate. But if using QHD+ and 90Hz, the battery life will be around 3-4 hours only. Then if using the hidden setting will be below 3 Hours SOT.

Another option is, use adjustable settings that will determine everything automatically. But this setting will give a battery life of around 6 Hours SOT only. For fast charging, OnePlus uses Warp Charge 30W which can charge the device from 0% to 100% around 1 Hour to 1 Hour 15 Minutes only. Overall, the battery of this OnePlus 7 Pro is quite good.

The battery score is 9/10.

The design of this OnePlus 7 Pro device looks like an original design. But if viewed more closely, the design of the front is similar to the Oppo Find X or even the Samsung Galaxy S10+ a little. Speaking of the screen, the front design of this device is very sexy and beautiful. Thin chin and almost practically no forehead. At the top, a stereo earpiece/speaker is included in the upper frame adjacent to the pop-up selfie camera. The back is very neat and beautiful.

The camera bulge is not so high, the overall gadget design is neat and premium. Comfortable in the hand and not so slippery. It’s just, even though the OnePlus has one variation with a matte and non -glossy finish – which is the unit I tested on this, it still traps serious fingerprint dirt. This color is the color of Nebula Blue. Other colors like Mirror Gray and Almond are mirror -like and glossy finish.

OnePlus 7 Pro Comparison

OnePlus 7 Pro Comparison

The easiest OnePlus 7 Pro comparison is that UFS is like an SSD on a PC and eMMC is like an HDD. So, the work of installing applications, opening applications, data transfer, data storage or even the data cache process is faster than usual. This thing will actually not be noticed by the average user, as it happens a lot from the system part.

The Snapdragon 855 is a processor chip widely used by flagship devices this year. Its performance is obviously as good and satisfying as any flagship gadget. The only advantage of this OnePlus is that the operating system used is very light. Oxygen OS is an operating system similar to the native Android, so the animations are smooth, the interface is very user -friendly and simple. Oxygen OS is not an operating system for all, because it is too simple – users unfamiliar with native Android will easily get bore.

Oxygen OS works well, fast and smoothly. Throughout use I have never felt any time lag or problems. The operating system is based on Android 9.0 Pie which also receives monthly security updates; and regularly receives updates for camera improvements. Among the interesting functions in Oxygen OS are Quick Launch; which can be access from the lock screen by using a fingerprint; to access some applications, Parallel Apps; for app clones, DC Dimming for those who are easily dizzy when the screen flashes; and also Quick reply in landscape to reply messages in landscape mode while other applications are in use.

The first play is one of the most exciting. This is because the OnePlus gaming mode now comes with Fnatic mode which is the first play setting proposed by the Fnatic e-sports team. It has a more interesting Do Not Disturb, focuses performance on the first only; and also enhances the use of the Internet against the first. My first favorites are Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile and even Hitman Sniper.

Navigation in P30 Pro

Navigation in P30 Pro

There are still three on -screen navigation in P30 Pro buttons, namely multi -tasking, home and back. The arrangement of the buttons can be change according to the user’s wishes. Even EMUI 9.1 allows up to four buttons to be place on the navigation tray. Android Pie -like gesture system is still not support. Instead Huawei’s gesture system is used and it is different from the one introduced by Google. There is also a Navigation Dock system like Assistive Touch on iOS. These multiple options give the user the freedom to control the device. We only regret no native Android Pie navigation system include as it is much more intuitive.

During the review period we did not experience any issues such as time lag or difficulty running the application. For those looking for a seamless device, the P30 Pro won’t disappoint.

However, there is a problem that we feel is a bit annoying with EMUI 9.1 that is carry away from EMUI 9.0 i.e. notifications are not display quickly. If the device is place on a table, no notification sound will be receive. When picked up suddenly all notifications will appear in a row. This is due to the relatively aggressive EMUI battery management system to extend the usage life of the device.

Here are some interesting functions included on the Huawei P30 Pro.

Huawei P30 Pro Sensor

Huawei P30 Pro Sensor

On the front only a 32-Megapixel f/2 Huawei P30 Pro sensor with permanent focus is used. The size of this sensor is larger than 24-Megapixel on the Mate 20 Pro, 10+ 8 Megapixel on the Galaxy S10+ and 7-Megapixel on the iPhone XS Max.

A 4200 mAh battery that is included is 100 mAh larger than that used on the Galaxy S10+. With this large battery size, the device is expected to last all day before it needs to be charged. When the battery runs out, the P30 Pro can be charged very quickly using a 40W charger. There is also support for 15W wireless charging and charging other devices via the Wireless Reverse Charge system.

Finally, this Huawei gadget also still has dust and waterproof capabilities that exceed the IP68 standard, stereo speakers, bluetooth 5.0 and infrared transmitter. Huawei is part to manufacturers who still see there is a need to put infrared transmitters on their devices.

The design of the Huawei device in our opinion is not Huawei’s strength. They are still looking for their own identity. On the Mate 20 Pro we complain it looks like a hybrid of the iPhone X and Galaxy S9. The P30 Pro looks like a Galaxy S10 with a small notch in the center of the screen. We have to admit the design of this device is interesting to look at only the lack of its own identity makes it difficult to distinguish from hundreds of devices with all-screen designs on the market today.

The screen is curved on the left and right sides to make it more comfortable to hold one hand. This is necessary because it is a device with a large size. The screen looks bright and sharp even though it only has FHD+resolution. When HDR content is played, it displays beautifully and perfectly. This is an improvement over the Mate 20 Pro which is less smooth and displays significant color band problems (color banding).
